About
Michel Rein is pleased to present Pitture Plastiche, the fifth solo exhibition of the artist at the gallery.
Luca Vitone introduces a new series of monochromes created with an unconventional pigment.
This series represents an ideal return to the past, to artisanal work where the pigment is produced within the very walls of the artist's studio. The pigment is composed of finely ground plastics, reduced almost to powder, applied to dibond, and placed under glass. The hues used include primary colors—red, blue, and yellow—along with a piece in a golden tone.
Following the dusts of the interiors we inhabit (Chambres), the atmospheric agents of the landscapes surrounding us (Les agents atmosphériques), and the ashes of incinerators representing our waste (Les cendres de Milan), here are the plastics derived from everyday residues (Pitture Plastiche), a material deemed indispensable, whose excessive consumption raises the issue of its disposal.
Luca Vitone's work has been exhibited at the MAXXI - Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI Secolo (Rome), Fondazione Zimei (Montesilvano), Palazzo Ducale (Genoa), PAC - Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea (Milan), Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Moscow), Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna (Rome), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Bétonsalon (Paris), Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (Berlin), Nomas Foundation (Rome), MoMA P.S.1 (New York), Musée & Jardins Van Buuren (Uccle), as well as at OK Centrum (Linz).
In 2013, Luca Vitone participated in the 55th Venice Biennale.
Since 2006, he has been teaching at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan.
His works are part of prestigious collections, including the MAXXI - Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI Secolo (Rome), Dena Foundation (Paris), Deutsche Bank (Milan), EVN Sammlung (Vienna), Nomas Foundation (Rome), n.b.k. (Berlin), Gamec (Bergamo), Lenbachhaus (Munich), Museo del Novecento (Milan), Museo Ettore Fico (Turin), Museo Riso (Palermo), among others
