(LAST DAYS) Agnès Thurnauer: A comme Boa

The exhibition (cur. Sébastien Delot, Grégoire Prangé) began with Agnès Thurnauer's encounter with Pablo Picasso's painting "Spanish Still Life, Sol y Sombra", one of the masterpieces in the LaM collection. Faced with this cubist still life with its deconstructed space, faced with the words that are fragmented in it, Agnès Thurnauer wished to initiate a response by starting with her own fragmented letters spread out in space: the Matrices. She used glass for the first time to create them. The work, which uses the purple color in the background of Picasso's painting, is entitled River Tongue and is the starting point of the exhibition. With glass, the artist explores the interiority of the letter and the plasticity of language, its modulations and, sometimes, its troubles.

Au départ de l'exposition (cur. Sébastien Delot, Grégoire Prangé) il y a la rencontre entre Agnès Thurnauer et le tableau de Pablo Picasso Nature morte espagnole, Sol y Sombra, l'un des chefs-d'œuvre de la collection du LaM. Devant cette nature morte cubiste à l'espace déconstruit, devant les mots qui s'y trouvent morcelés, Agnès Thurnauer a souhaité engager une réponse en partant de ses propres lettres fragmentées répandues dans l'espace : les Matrices. Elle a utilisé pour la première fois le verre pour les réaliser. L'œuvre, qui reprend la couleur violette présente à l'arrière-plan du tableau de Picasso s'intitule River Tongue et constitue le point de départ de l'exposition. Avec le verre, l'artiste explore l'intériorité de la lettre et la plasticité du langage, ses modulations et, parfois, ses troubles.
