'At first glance one is startled by the impromptu look of these works. Clearly, the artist's manner of occupying emptiness and animating the support (the subjectile) stems from precise gestures, both free and calculated. The experience of tracing traverses these images. The artist follows her own tracks. She establishes a "theme," loses its thread, finds it again. The composition of these images never overwhelms what surges forth with and within the drawing. Each separate moment is the start of a narrative, yet it's also a way of sidestepping that narrative - we notice this in her films; every start is liable to be revisited, reworked. Drawing organizes more or less legible elements by remaining as close as possible to a psychographic activity, one that manifests first and foremost as a transcription of kinesthetic sensations. The commonplace view of drawing as a form of bodily writing is constantly borne out.'

Anne-Marie Schneider currently is part of Mondes Parallèles, an exhibition at the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris.
"Un air d'impromptu surgit au premier regard. Une manière d'occuper le vide et d'animer le support (le subjectile) procède manifestement d'une gestuelle précise, à la fois libre et calculée. L'expérience du tracé traverse les images. L'artiste se suit à la trace. Elle noue un «thème», perd le fil, le retrouve. La composition de l'image ne prend jamais le pas sur ce qui advient avec et dans le tracé. Chaque moment isolé est une amorce de récit, mais aussi une esquive du récit - cela se vérifie dans les films -; chaque amorce peut être reprise, retravaillée. Le dessin organise des éléments plus ou moins lisibles, en restant au plus près d'une activité psychographique, qui se manifeste d'abord et avant tout comme une transcription de sensations kinésiques. Le lieu commun qui fait du dessin une forme d'écriture gestuelle se vérifie constamment."
