Manifesta, La Traversée does not simply occupy a space; it makes space itself the very material of the exhibition. This underground site in the Monts d'Or acts as a matrix, where concrete both structures and conceals. Each threshold crossed sets in motion a physical and mental displacement; the visitor does not simply contemplate an exhibition, but moves through it.

This fragmented scenography—conceived in direct resonance with Catherine Nichols' theme for the Biennial, “Moving from One Dream to Another”—rejects the logic of a predetermined route. The works emerge and recede within alcoves, playing with the tension between surface and depth, between what is revealed and what remains in shadow. It is a way of questioning, in deeply concrete terms, what circulates between economic value and poetic charge within the ecosystem of art.
