A.K. BURNS

Galerie Michel Rein is pleased to share that A.K. Burns has been named one of the twelve recipients of the 2026 Trellis Art Fund Milestone Grants.

The grant provides unrestricted funding over two years to support artists in sustaining and advancing their practices.
Selected alongside Kelly Akashi, Lisa Alvarado, Ei Arakawa-Nash, Charles Atlas, Alex Da Corte, Michiko Itatani, Candice Lin, Miguel Luciano, Senga Nengudi, TT Takemoto, and Rodrigo Valenzuela, A.K. Burns receives this recognition for the continued impact of her interdisciplinary practice.

Through sculpture, video, installation, writing, and performance, Burns explores the body as a contested site where social, political, and material forces converge. Engaging deeply with questions of materiality and (re)production, her work examines how the deployment of power is inscribed in bodies, their functions, physiological processes, sensations, and pleasures.
