Niki
Un Eté au Havre
Jun. 28 - Sep. 21, 2025
A fountain-work in which water flows but never stagnates, "Niki" plays on the double meaning of Didier Marcel's work. An organic counterpoint to the rational design of Auguste Perret's buildings, the found stone cast in concrete has anthropomorphic characteristics: it evokes the "Venus of Willendorf" or "Victory of Samothrace".
Between city and university, future and past, the work conjures up the Greek goddess of Victory, the famous sports brand that adopted its name, and the famous artist Niki de Saint-Phalle and her emblematic "Nanas",
", making the intersection a crossroads of styles and eras.
Didier Marcel's work was co-produced with the Université Le Havre - Normandie and supported by Crous Normandie.
