Paysages recommencés
FRAC-Arthothèque Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Limoges, France
May. 20 - Sep. 20, 2025
In May 2025, the Frac-Artothèque Nouvelle-Aquitaine opens the doors of its new building with Paysages recommencés, an inaugural exhibition curated by Yannick Miloux. Conceived as a series of evolving sequences, it will be on view in all spaces until the end of the year, and will feature over 70 artists.
The exhibition revolves around the theme of landscape, a recurring motif in the history of art, continually reinterpreted by artists according to their social, political and ideological context. Through a dialogue between eras and practices, it highlights the way in which each generation revisits this subject. Its title borrows a phrase from André Raffray (1920-2010), a film illustrator known for re-enacting and re-staging the masterpieces of modern art. Somewhere between homage and exploration, Paysages recommencés invites us to rediscover this motif through multiple prisms, discourses and media, testifying to its richness and capacity for constant reinvention.
Featuring works from the Frac and Artothèque collections, as well as loans from other institutions (CNAP, CAPC Bordeaux, Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie et du Musée d'art contemporain de Rochechouart, Frac Meca, Frac Poitou-Charentes, Frac Occitanie Toulouse), the exhibition celebrates the vitality of these exceptional public collections.
Through this generous proposal, the Frac-Artothèque affirms its role as a conduit for the public to rediscover the breadth, richness and interest of its collections.
From September 2025, exhibitions will develop the female figures of the opening show, such as Martine Aballéa, Jane Harris and Florence-Louise Petetin, with monographic sequences.
