Jordi Colomer at Frac Corse

By adapting the question of what constitutes a city - at the heart of his X-Ville project - to Corsica, Jordi Colomer continues his anthropological and poetic investigation into what binds individuals together and what constitutes a community. He tackles themes such as urban planning and the material and intellectual conditions of human existence, giving utopia a central role in his ability to articulate the relationships between the world as it is, with its power relations, and the world as it is thought, with our aspirations, doubts and fragilities. Through his interest in foreign representations of Corsica in the 19th century, which accompanied the beginnings of tourism, he brings historical depth to his own view, and shows that art remains above all a tool for sensitive reflection in the service of a citizen's conscience that doesn't provide answers, but enables an emancipated dialogue.


En adaptant à la Corse la question de ce qu'est une cité - au cœur de son projet X-Ville -, Jordi Colomer prolonge son enquête anthropologique et poétique sur ce qui lie les individus et ce qui constitue une communauté. Il aborde des thèmes tels que l'urbanisme ou les conditions matérielles et intellectuelles de l'existence humaine, en donnant à l'utopie un rôle central dans sa capacité d'articuler les relations entre le monde tel qu'il se donne avec ses rapports de force, et le monde tel qu'il est pensé, avec nos aspirations, nos doutes et nos fragilités. À travers son intérêt pour les représentations étrangères de la Corse au XIXe siècle qui accompagnent les débuts du tourisme, il apporte une profondeur historique à son propre regard et montre que l'art demeure avant tout un outil de réflexion sensible au service d'une conscience citoyenne qui n'apporte pas de réponse, mais permet un dialogue émancipé.
