Born 1977 Japan. Works United Kingdom.


Christian Hidaka is a painter who renews the genre of landscape. His works draw from a thousand different sources: Japanese landscapes, science fiction, psychedelic, surrealism, Renaissance painting... From his works emerge a poetry, an invitation to travel towards irrational and fantasized universes.


Christian Hidaka’s works have been exhibited at 3rd Beijing Biennale - UK Pavilion, The Weisman Art Museum (California), Spiral Garden (Tokyo), Dye House (London), Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, MUDAM - The Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art (Luxembourg), Villa Reale’s Galleria d’Arte Moderna (Milano), The Goss-Michael Foundation (Dallas), Torrance Art Museum (California), Le Grand Café (Saint-Nazaire), Les Instants Chavirés (Montreuil), Synagogue de Delme (Delme), Le Consortium (Dijon), Bétonsalon (Paris) etc. He will benefit from a solo show at the MNAC - National Museum of Contemporary Art of Bucarest from November 2018.

 

His work is part of prestigious collections as MUDAM Collection (Luxembourg), Frederick R. Weisman Collection (California), The Saatchi Gallery (London), UBS Collection (London), Goss Michael Foundation Collection (Dallas), Scorpio Trust (Geneva), Cranford Collection (London), Centre National des Arts Plastiques (Paris), The Israel Museum (Jerusalem), Uli Sigg Collection among others.
